Drawing Antonioni – Laila Milevski

Drawn by Laila Milevski in 2014 for Comics Workbook, this series is “an exploration of visual mechanisms and themes in the Antonioni movies L’avventura and La notte…narrated by the mild-mannered, neurotic man who is drawing the comics.

Presented below is the L’avventura part of the series.












Laila Milevski is a Somerville, MA, based cartoonist and design assistant at Candlewick Press. Her comics include The Ice Fisher (self-published, 2013),  Drawing Antonioni (made for Comics Workbook, 2014) and From A Dream (made for Comics Workbook and printed by Perfectly Acceptable Press, 2014). Her work will appear in Ley Lines #9 in November of 2016.

From May 20th-June 14th 2016 Laila’s comics will be featured along with those of Julia Gförer, Aidan Koch, Maggie Umber, and Alyssa Berg at the gallery Zeitraumexit in Manneim, Germany.

Sally Ingraham

Sally is a cartoonist, educator, and journalist based in Pittsburgh, PA. She makes comics about Pittsburgh and bird watching, and co-writes the "Suzy and Cecil" daily strip (with Gabriella Tito). She facilitates the Comics Workbook Rowhouse Residency, is a managing editor of the CW Daily News, and runs the CW Roller Derby "of the mind" League. She is focused on documenting the current and historic place of women in the comics industry, is working to build the Women's Comics Library, and is developing a comics curriculum by and for girls.
